What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

The carpal tunnel is a tight passageway through which the median nerve travels through the wrist into the hand. Compression here is common  among people who write or type for long periods of time. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by entrapment or pinching of the median nerve which provides movement and sensation to the hand, namely the thumb and index finger. Adhesion in the fascia and scar tissue in the wrist contribute the carpal tunnel syndrome which is why manual therapy can be and effective treatment for this condition.
