Elbow Pain

The elbow is a complex joint in which three bones meet: the humerus, radius, and ulna. The joint is capable of flexion, extension and rotation. Because we use the elbow often and in so many ways it is susceptible to overuse injuries. Nerves that supply sensation and motion to the forearm and hand also pass through the elbow. Dysfunction in this region can create compression and sensations of numbness, tingling and weakness into the hand that can often be confused with wrist conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

 

Signs and Symptoms:

 ·       Pain on the inside or outside of the elbow

·       Pain when playing racquet sports

·       Pain when swinging a golf club

·       Pain when opening doors, twisting a jar, or picking up objects

·       Pain when gripping objects or shaking hands.

·       Radiating numbness or tingling into the forearm and hands
