Knee Pain

Knee pain can be caused by many different factors including athletics, repetitive daily stresses, and age. The knee is the largest joint in the body and acute injuries are often the result of direct trauma to the area affecting the ligamentous structures that provide support and normal motion to the joint. Tearing of the cartilaginous cushion in the knee joint, also known as the meniscus, is another common the result of trauma, overuse and repetitive stress to the knee.

Chronic knee pain can be characterized by swelling, limited range of motion, pain with weight bearing and increased sensitivity in one or both joints. The knee can also experience a build up in the fluid that lubricates the joint (synovial fluid) which is known as a Baker Cyst. Additionally, poor loading mechanics and athletics can put the knee at risk for many overuse injuries including tendonitis and irritation of the supporting musculature. Our providers are experts in finding the source of your knee pain and treating it to decrease your pain and increase performance.
