Bicep/Tricep Tendonitis

This injury is most commonly due to overuse and can develop gradually over time. The wear and tear from repeated elbow flexion and extension along with preexisting injuries to the rotator cuff in the shoulder can have an effect on the front and back of the upper arm down to the elbow. Irritation from ongoing inflammation of the tendons that attach the biceps brachii and triceps brachii to the bones result in tendonitis.

Signs and Symptoms:

 ·       Weakness or tenderness in the biceps, triceps or both muscles

·       Pain when performing pulling or pushing motions

·       Decreased active range of motion on elbow flexion and extension

·       Pain or discomfort with overhead arm motions

·       Snapping or popping sensation in the front of the arm

·       Swelling in the affected areas
