Patellar Tendonitis/Jumper’s Knee

The patellar tendon plays a very important role in activities such as running, jumping, kicking and numerous lifting movements. The patella, or kneecap, has a strong fibrous tendon that extends down to its attachment at the shin bone or tibia. Inflammation of this tendon from repetitive movement or excessive loading can cause patellar tendonitis.

 

Signs and Symptoms

 ·       Pain between the kneecap and shin along patellar tendon

·       Pain that increases with your sport of repetitive activity

·       Advances to pain with daily activities such as going down stairs
